Long Time
So, I went to an illustrator's convention...and I feel meh about it. There were two talks out of the seven I went to that were worth it. After I got back, I did not feel like creating anything for a while. I was so put off by the entire experience, I didn't create anything for a month or so. On top of wasting a lot of money I could have used to upgrade my tools. So no, I will not be attending Illuxcon in the future.
Finally I feel like I'm back in the groove of things. Painting all day every day off feels good.

Bloop Colored
Colored. Messed with the values so that it resembled deep ocean a little more. All in all, I like it.
Sea Monster
Participating in the cghub creature planet challenge "The Bloop". You can read about it here. You have to come up with what could make the sound.
I'm not too crazy about the volcanic vents. It needs something else.

Historical Fighter
I downloaded the vertex book for gaming related topics. At the end is a competition to create a historical person as a fighting character. I'm going to do two. Can you guess the first one?
A little cliche, but hey, embrace the cliche!

Update 7/23
Didn't work yesterday. Continued blocking in values and adding details. Completely forgot what I originally wanted the lighting to be, changed it to reflect the new lighting. Overall, happy so far.

Two Finished
Beaver button finished and I decided to color the wizard sketch. Went a little crazy on the color choices, but I think it pulled together.

Today's Update
Decided to color the dwarf. Never made one before and the different proportions were fun. I'm also working on a button commission for PAX. Decided to take the beaver in a scifi direction this time.

3D IS HARD
So I've finally decided to start learning 3D. I made a quick sculpt in mudbox of an alien head.
Mudbox is actually intuitive, especially to someone whose had a lot of formal training. The head took me about 20 min and then I spent the rest of my day scratching mt brain on what unwrapping the UVW and baking the occlusion means. Yeah, I don't understand what I just wrote. I've watched a lot of videos and they seem to make it look easy and it's not.
I want to texture this thing in photoshop which used to be an archaic dead language to me and now I speak it everyday. 3DS Max is the same thing. I know I'll eventually begin to speak it, but that's probably weeks away. Maybe I need to take a class.
This is all to beef up my skills. I want to work in games and I think wearing as many hats as possible will accomplish that. I'll go crazy for a little while, but it'll be worth it.
